Why We Give Our Time: Stories from Our Team

At Factotum, our team is passionate about making a difference, not just in the work we do for clients, but in the world around us. Outside of office hours, many of our colleagues dedicate their time, skills, and energy to causes close to their hearts, from supporting local community initiatives to fundraising for national charities. This National Non-Profit Day, we’re celebrating the generosity and commitment of our team by sharing, in their own words, what inspires them to volunteer and the impact it has on both their lives and the communities they serve.

Yael

Volunteering is my way of giving back to the community that has given me so much over the years. I believe that when we all contribute a little of our time and energy, we can create a stronger, more supportive environment for everyone.

Abhi

When I first started volunteering, I didn’t realise just how fulfilling it would be. Knowing that my actions can have a real and positive impact on someone else’s life gives me a sense of purpose and motivates me to keep going.

Jayme

I’ve always believed in the goodness of helping others, and volunteering is a natural way to live that out. It keeps me busy in the best way, introduces me to new people from all walks of life, and gives me a sense of belonging.

Lara

I’m very aware of how privileged my life has been, and I feel a responsibility to give back. Volunteering allows me to do something tangible for others, using my time and skills to make even a small difference.

Shelley

My volunteering journey began with a charity skydive, which was both a personal challenge and a way to support a cause I cared about.

Rina

For me, volunteering is about feeling good by doing good, it’s knowing I’m contributing something valuable to those around me. I also dedicate time to my Temple, which keeps me rooted in my faith and connected to my community on a deeper level.

David

Community has always been important to me, and volunteering is a way to actively strengthen it. Over time, I’ve built genuine friendships with the people I volunteer alongside, and together we’ve been able to serve and support others in meaningful ways.

Jyoti

I believe in giving back because even the smallest act can make a real difference to someone’s life. When you’re in a more fortunate position, whether that means giving your time, your skills, or your resources, it feels right to share what you can to help others.

Gayatri

I volunteer with Suicide&Co, supporting people who have been bereaved by suicide and helping to provide vital awareness around this difficult subject. It gives me a strong sense of purpose and community, knowing I’m part of something that offers comfort, understanding, and hope to those who need it most.

Ravi

For me, volunteering is simply a good use of time, time spent doing something that matters. It’s a chance to step away from the everyday routine and put my energy into helping others.

Maya (me)

I’ve always enjoyed keeping busy, and volunteering gives me a way to spend my time that feels truly worthwhile. Knowing that those hours are going towards helping others makes every moment feel meaningful and rewarding.

From charity skydives to community projects, from temples to local initiatives, our team’s volunteering reflects a shared belief in the power of giving back. This National Non-Profit Day, we’re proud to celebrate the compassion, commitment, and generosity of the people who make Factotum what it is, and to recognise that even small acts of kindness can create a ripple of positive change far beyond ourselves.
