What got Sharon started

Sharon’s interest in accounting came from enjoying the balance of organisation, problem solving and working with numbers in a practical way. After studying Accounting at University, she realised she was far more drawn to the hands-on side of the profession than pure theory. She joined Factotum in her first professional accounting role, where she quickly immersed herself in practical work and developed her skills through real client experience. Sharon enjoys learning by doing, finding that working directly in Xero and financial reporting helps reinforce the concepts she is studying as part of her professional qualifications.

Sharon is excellent at

• Creating clear and organised processes. Sharon is highly detail-oriented and known for producing thorough, easy-to-follow notes and systems.
• Solving problems independently. She takes initiative to find solutions and approaches challenges with an ambitious and proactive mindset.
• Maintaining accuracy in financial data. Sharon has developed a strong reputation for precise data replication between Xero and XR, an area where errors can often occur.

About Sharon

Sharon began her accounting career at Factotum after completing her Accounting degree at University. Starting in her first professional role, she quickly adapted to the fast-paced environment by shadowing colleagues, taking detailed notes and building hands-on experience across accounting systems and reporting processes. She particularly enjoys the practical side of accounting, finding that applying concepts in real scenarios helps deepen her understanding and strengthen her technical knowledge.

Alongside her day-to-day role, Sharon is currently undertaking her accounting exam series, as she continues developing her qualifications and expertise within the profession. Her strong work ethic, attention to detail and willingness to learn have already made her a valued member of the team. Sharon is especially recognised for her organised approach, problem-solving mindset and high level of accuracy when working across financial systems and reporting tasks.
