Financial Controller at Accountancy Action
Before starting her first accounting job, Rachel worked at a small airport and had some flying lessons. It’s still a life goal of hers to get her private pilot’s license.
Sydney – Rachel lived in Bondi in her gap year, and thinks it is the perfect mix of city and sea.
Building core financial structures from scratch, from creating effective budgets and financial controls to bringing clarity where there’s disorganisation, enabling informed decision-making and long-term stability.
Driving process improvements through best practices, identifying inefficiencies, introducing proven methods, and streamlining workflows to boost efficiency, reduce waste, and support scalable growth.
Bridging finance and commercial strategy, translating financial data into actionable insights, supporting strategic decisions, and aligning finance with business goals to drive profitability and manage risk.
Rachel began her accounting career in her hometown of Penzance, Cornwall, where she studied AAT while working at a small local accountancy practice. Keen to broaden her experience, she moved to London and qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ACA) with Grant Thornton LLP. Since then, she has built a diverse career across industry, with experience ranging from preparing financial accounts for an offshore wind farm at a large multinational, to managing the finances of a barristers’ chambers.
